LGUs can bring basic commodities closer to their citizens to lessen the number of people leaving their homes during the pandemic.
Overview
The Pasay City Government, through its Cooperative Development Office (PCCDO) and the Department of Trade and Industry, is bringing basic commodities, at discounted prices, closer to residents through the deployment of "Diskwento Caravan" to communities amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Diskwento Caravan project aims to lessen the movement of individuals in going to the market or malls, and at the same time, help the local economy recover from adverse effects of the pandemic.
The caravan also helps upland and lowland farmers in selling their vegetables.
The city has started to deploy the Diskwento Caravan every month in strategic areas in the city to help barangay cooperatives and farmers sell their goods.
The project is also part of the local government’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the Pasay City.
