Highlights
LGUs can conduct simulations of their COVID-19 vaccination process to be prepared when the COVID-19 vaccines arrive.
Overview
The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro conducted a virtual simulation exercise for the COVID-19 vaccination in preparation for the actual vaccination.
The government simulated the actual handling of the vaccines from its arrival to the transporting to the cold chain facility to the distribution and the actual vaccination of the medical and health workers which involved the participation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Health Office (PHO) and law enforcers.
Based on the record of the provincial government, there are at least 269,767 eligible vaccinees in the entire province of Oriental Mindoro. The local government units with the help of the local media are conducting continuous information dissemination to encourage the public to get vaccinated and to dispel fake information on the vaccine.
During the simulation, it was also explained to attendees composed of local media, medical personnel, police officers and government employees about the distribution process of vaccines which was grouped into six as follows: 1) North Group consists of towns of Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, Baco, Naujan and Victoria; 2) Central Zone Group – Socorro, Pola, Pinamalayan, Gloria and Bansud; 3) South Zone Group – Bongabong, Roxas, Mansalay and Bulalacao; 4) Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital (OMPH) and Calapan City private hospitals, namely Ma. Estrella General Hospital and MMG General Hospital; 5) Police Regional Office (PRO) Mimaropa; and 6) City Health and Sanitation Department of Calapan.
Within the half-day simulation exercises, all RHUs were properly oriented on what to do in their respective area of jurisdiction to meet uniformity of action on the actual vaccination processes.
