Guidelines on Conducting Taraweeh Prayers during Ramadan

LGUs with Muslims in their community can disseminate the guidelines and other information regarding conducting Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan season.

Abuhuraira Udasan, grand mufti (Islamic legal expert) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Udasan noted that COVID-19 remains a threat globally, hence the need to cancel mass gatherings as a precaution against the highly contagious and deadly virus.

The religious guidelines indicated:

• The temporary suspension of the congregational Taraweeh prayers in the mosques to avoid further contamination. A reliable Hadith says: Don’t cause harm or return harm.
• That cleanliness has to be strictly observed. A reliable Hadith affirms: Cleanliness is part of faith.
• That Sunnat Tarraweeh prayers can be performed at home
