Disadvantage groups receive close to 10,000 food boxes in Muntinlupa

LGUs can provide vulnerable groups in their locality assistance such as food and other donations.

The Muntinlupa City Government has distributed close to 10,000 food boxes to indigent residents and other displaced workers in the city following the imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

The Muntinlupa Social Service Department provided 9,989 food packages to the beneficiaries to help lessen the impacts of quarantine restrictions imposed to curb the COVID-19 infections.

These include tricycle and jeepney operators and drivers, daily wage earners who were affected by the lockdown, families of city scholars, and other members of disadvantaged groups for the month of March.

Each food box contains grocery items worth P785.00.

The said beneficiaries, being low-income earners and left with no choice but to continue working despite the COVID- 19 threat to provide food at their tables.

To date, the Muntinlupa local government has distributed 695,184 food boxes to city residents since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic last March 2020.
